Is it appropriate to skip breakfast? Carla's typical day

We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Yet, many people do not give it enough time or attention, and many other end up skipping it all together. What they do not realize is that by doing so they develop unhealthy chain of reactions. Don't you believe it? Find out what happens when the natural rhythm of the body is altered.

Following is Carla's typical day. She skips breakfast daily.

A vicious cycle

  1. The alarm clock has sounded and priority has been given to the children, maybe unwilling or simply forgetting, Carla leaves home without putting anything in the stomach. Maybe she even thinks that this way she can lose weight faster the extra pounds. What she does not know is that this behavior will affect her entire day.
  2. At about 10:00 am, right in the middle of an important meeting in the office, Carla starts to feel heaviness in her head, blurred vision, a rumbling in her stomach that keeps getting stronger ... As soon as she can, she runs to the vending machine to appease that sudden and uncontrollable hunger ... "What harm could a diet snack do me, maybe two, and a cup of coffee ... after all I skipped breakfast, i won't gain weight!".
  3. That triggered a chain destined to end only at dinner! It is lunchtime, and the snack that she previously had still feels heavy on her stomach... and on her conscious.  Therefore, either for lack of appetite, or feelings of guilt, Carla's lunchtime ends up being a few leaves of a salad, instead of a lunch that is fulfilling and healthy, leaving Carla with a relaxing satisfaction. Not to mention the places where she has lunch, that for work reasons, are usually bars or fast food restaurants, that could lead to having a fast and unhealthy lunch, while ruining this second important time of the day.
  4. More than likely her afternoon will include a snack to fill the hole in her stomach left by that salad, or she could possible have some discomforts and feeling tired from the fast-food she ate.
  5. At dinner, the time when Carla has hope of exploiting the first and only time of the day she can enjoy eating without rush. However, if she is tired from the working day, she may decide to eat out again. This vicious cycle will make her eat food of convinience at dinner rather than a balanced meal.

The results of a day started off by skipping breakfast?

Improper eating habits and the dangerous possibility of weight gain with the consolidation of this unhealthy habit.

What can Carla do to improve her daily diet?

Let's begin with the base: Start having breakfast!

With a little effort, she will wake up 15 minutes earlier to have breakfast and make this fundamental meal part of her daily routine.

By doing so she will prevent snacking on unhealthy foods until lunch, she will have a balanced meal and if outside the house, she may find restaurants that offer a variety of foods. Or she could simply make her favorite and healthy dish at the house and take it with her.

At dinner she will seat at the table already fulfilled with the previous two meals she had, and won't feel the need to eat her all refrigerator out!
