RENIRE (to lose weight and to protect kidney function): preliminary results of a prospective observational study

RENIRE (to lose weight and to protect kidney function): preliminary results of a prospective observational study of an intensive and customized dietary approach to overweight or obese CKD stage IV patients.

Made in collaboration with the US Nephrology Hospital of Orbassano (TO) and the University of Turin.

This is the first study presented at the first course of CME Diabesity Working Group of ERA-EDTA, held in Tenerife

The purpose of this report was to discuss the preliminary results of the RENIRE study; a prospective weight loss observational study in people with Chronic Renal Disease, focusing in particular on a subset of patients who chose to follow the personalized Bioimis Nutritional Program.

From the preliminary results of the RENIRE study, it shows that the Bioimis Nutritional Program, chosen for the majority of patients, has a quick and personalized weight loss approach.

Good results were obtained in terms of compliance and effectiveness in weight reduction and control of proteinuria without severe metabolic abnormalities, suggesting, therefore, that an "acute" diet can be a key to success in the treatment of obesity and overweight in "chronic" patients
