Healthy light foods? Absolutely not!

Compared with fresh foods, industrial products do not hold up to the challenge. Packaged foods are the product of long processes involving the addition of food additives (such as dyes and preservatives) in abundance. Unlike what advertising wants us to believe, even the "light" versions are certainly not good for the health of our body. These foods are often fortified with minerals and vitamins of little use to the body and difficult to digest. Here is a list of light foods to avoid, as "false healthy foods".

"Light Foods" to avoid

  • Margarine 
    Created as a lighter substitute for butter, margarine contains actually hydrogenated fats, trans fats and highly processed vegetable oils. As an alternative to butter, remember the healthy power of extra virgin olive oil: delicious and tasty, prevents cardiovascular diseases and is a powerful friend to your overall wellness.
  • Light cheeses
    Advertised as fat-free, light and healthy. The reality, however, is quite different: being an animal origin food, cheese contains cholesterol. To learn about the exact composition of the product it is important to check the label.
  • Energy bars 
    Although quite small, energy bars can often contains a high quantity of sugar. Their consumption determines temporarely energy peaks  followed by feelings of hunger and weakness.
  • Packaged fruit juices 
    Packaged fruit juices are generally rich in sugar; the quantity of fruit is scarce and contains dyes to attract the youngest which makes them an hazard to one's health. For your children's snacks is always recommended to prepare homemade juices and fresh smoothies with real fruit.
  • Chips and"not fried" products 
    These products, advertised as healthy, are packaged, stored and, in many cases, enriched with oils and fats of uncertain origin. Opt for a definitely better homemade frying!
